Nattokinase is derived from natto, a traditional Japanese dish made from fermented soybeans. During the fermentation process, the soybean undergoes a transformation in which the natural enzymes in the beans become active. The nattokinase enzymes have the ability to break down the protein fibrin. 

Nattovéna nattokinase differs from other supplements in that the production method used produces a standardised and optimised extract of nattokinase.

Nattokinase supplements are measured in fibrin units (FU), also known as fibrinolytic units. This number indicates the activity of the enzyme. One capsule of Nattovena contains 4,000 FU.
